On days where we have a lot going on, we try to keep art simple while still being valuable. On this particular day, we were playing with an exciting Candy Cane Sensory Bin, as well as building towers and roads with wooden blocks. It was a jam packed morning, so art was a basic stocking.
Materials: Glue (slightly watered down) in a bowl, cotton balls, and pre-cut paper stockings
The process is easy and self-explanatory. BUT, the toddlers were still able to practice fine motor (the grabbing and pinching) while enjoying the fluffy texture of the cotton balls. They also love picking places to place them and pushing them down with their palms to make sure they stay put.
Obviously, you can do a LOT more with this kind of art! Add glitter, have them color with crayons or chalk on the stocking, dip the cotton balls in color before placing on the stocking… so many possibilities!
The results might not be the most exciting, but they are still unique and precious!
